14-Week Tuition Free Welding Course
The Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 375 is seeking interested individuals for a 14-week tuition
free advanced welding course. Participants will be provided training in various pipe welding
methods as required in pipeline construction, including associated classroom instruction.
Students who satisfactorily complete the course work and successfully pass the downhill pipe
qualification tests may be referred to the Local Union for dispatch.
All applicants are encouraged to have previous welding and construction experience. Applicants
may be required to interview and/or complete a skills evaluation before selections. Selected
participants will be expected to pass a drug screening as a condition of acceptance and may be
subjected to a physical abilities exam as a condition of employment. While in training
participants will be required to provide their own housing and transportation.
Classes are scheduled to begin Monday, August 29, 2016 and will be held Monday through
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center until Friday,
December 2, 2016. Participants will be expected to attend all training sessions made available to
them. Welding and safety gear will be provided.
Funding for this course is provided by a grant from the State of Alaska Department of Labor and
Workforce Development.
